Kane Hospital Might Add Dementia Wing

Kane Hospital in Scott Township is expected to build a new wing that specializes in the treatment of people suffering from dementia.

Kane Hospital in Scott Township is expected to build a new wing that specializes in the treatment of people suffering from dementia, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting.

Allegheny County wants to spend $1 million to reconstruct a part of the hospital that will add 45 beds.

The county wants to build the wing so it is secure for patients with Alzheimer’s and other issues related to dementia, according to the Post-Gazette.

If approved by Allegheny County Council, the hospital could open the wing by next fall. The county-owned hospital is located on Kane Boulevard near the Jewish Community Center
