Greentree Road near Old Washington Pike will be closed for the next four weekends as construction crews rebuild the roadway.
PennDOT announced construction work will occur between the Greentree Road bridge over Chartiers Creek and the railroad crossing next to Ducky’s Car Wash.
Crews will close the roadway from 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for the next four weekends. There will also be overnight single-lane closures from Wednesday until Friday this week as crews prepare the road for work.
PennDOT said the work will include concrete reconstruction in the area.
The construction is expected to cause major congestion in and around the area because Washington Pike’s connection point to Greentree Road will be effectively cut off. There will be signs posted notifying motorists of detours.
The work is part of the $6.8 million reconstruction project of Washington Pike from Bridgeville to Carnegie.
