Greentree Road Closing Again for Construction

Greentree Road near Old Washington Pike will be closed this weekend for construction on the roadway.

Greentree Road near Old Washington Pike will close again this weekend as construction crews rebuild the roadway with a new concrete surface.

PennDOT said construction work will occur between the Greentree Road bridge over Chartiers Creek and the railroad crossing next to Ducky’s Car Wash.

Crews will close the roadway from 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday. Work will continue for the next three weekends after construction began on Oct. 19.

PennDOT said the work will include concrete reconstruction in the area.

The construction is expected to cause major congestion in and around the area because Washington Pike’s connection point to Greentree Road will be effectively cut off. There will be signs posted notifying motorists of detours.

The work is part of the $6.8 million reconstruction project of Washington Pike from Bridgeville to Carnegie.

Here are the suggested detours from PennDOT:

  • Greentree Road to Route 50: Use Hope Hollow Road
  •  Route 50 to Greentree Road: Use Hope Hollow Road
  •  Old Washington Pike to Route 50/Greentree Road: Take Scrubgrass Road, make left onto Swallow Hill Road, follow to access Greentree Road or continue straight onto Hope Hollow Road to access Route 50
  •  Route 50/Greentree Road to Old Washington Pike: Same detour in opposite direction
