Bus Shuttles to Alleviate Weekend Light Rail Detours in South Hills

Both Red and Blue Line service will be affected.

Port Authority light rail service and several bus routes will be detoured by a nighttime closure of the Mt. Washington Transit Tunnel this Sunday, Aug. 18.

The transit tunnel will be closed for fan replacement from 8 p.m. until the night’s end of service.

During the closure, Red Line and Blue Line T service will operate only as far north as South Hills Junction. Bus shuttles will operate between in both directions between South Hills Junction and Station Square, and Subway Local T service will operate in both directions between the North Shore and Station Square.

Several bus routes will detour due to the tunnel closure but most regular bus stops will be maintained.

Riders should allow for extra time when traveling on detoured service.
