Bridgeville Library Expanding Hours

Bridgeville Public Library is expanding its operating hours and will now be open on Mondays.

The library’s Board of Directors agreed this month to reopen the library from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each Monday beginning on March 4.

The board said feedback from library patrons prompted it to expand the hours. Library officials acknowledged there still is a funding issue and they hope to raise money to pay for the additional hours.

The library had to slash its staff and operating times from 58 hours a week to 35 in May 2012 because of budget and fundraising problems after the new building opened in early 2011.

But the board said late last year that it was concerned the library was losing patrons and the chance for donations with the cuts. They decided in August to delay any decision until the beginning of 2013.
