Bridgeville Day on the Avenue

You're invited to join the food, fun and folks!

Saturday's "Bridgeville Day on the Avenue" is an annual street festival with lots of activities for residents of all ages.

Originally known as Bridgeville's Community Day, this afternoon is packed with crafts, food vendors, commercial representatives, church groups, children's activities  and other local organizations. It's a great time to see neighbors and loved ones after such a long and bitter winter. Come soak up the sun and feast on the food. Entertainment runs continually all day , with lots of free and low priced things to purchase and do.

It will be located on Washington Pike between the Bridgeville Post Office and Bower Hill Road from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The road will be closed to traffic from early morning to late evening. Traffic will be diverted away from those blocks during that time.

It been getting bigger and better every year. Come join your neighbors and make memories with your family that will last a lifetime.

The popular "Battle of the Barrel" put on by the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department is continuing this year. This is a competition between two fire hoses, a barrel and lots and lots of water. Kids enjoy seeing the fire equipment and talking with firefighters. This has been a crowd-pleaser for many years and children of all ages have enjoyed the splash to cool off from the heat.

The Car Cruise will be returning with even more participants than ever before. They will be located at the PNC end of the Avenue between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Come and relive the glory days of when cars were works of art and the highway beckoned with the call of adventure.

Plan to bring your appetite, there are all sorts of foods to savor. Generous portions of succulent ribs, pizza, gyros and more to satisfy your desire for "real food". Or, if you're in the mood to snack, all the old favorites like shaved ice, ice cream, cotton candy, popcorn, baked goods and more will be available. The food prices are significantly  more affordable than other festivals and sponsor many non-profit area organizations.

Entertainment from area bands will play throughout the day. There is great diversity in the line up and will have something for everyone. These include the West Hills Symphony (a 60 pc brass band) who will be playing show tunes, Country Western music from local bands, and many more yet to be announced.
