Detour Planned for Boyce Road

A portion of Boyce Road in South Fayette is scheduled to close on Feb. 27 for waterline construction.

A portion of Boyce Road in South Fayette is scheduled to close on Feb. 27.

The closure is planned on Boyce Road near the 7-Eleven convenience store, according to the USC Public Works Crew. Boyce Road in Upper St. Clair will not be closed.

Pennsylvania American Water announced this week the start of construction to replace more than five miles of aging water main in the Pittsburgh area. Clair Drive in Upper St. Clair will be affected.

“Pennsylvania American Water is continuing to make investments that will improve pressure and fire flow for our Greater Pittsburgh customers,” said Jasun Stanton, Pennsylvania American Water manager of field operations for Pittsburgh. “By replacing aging water mains—that are in some cases more than 100 years old—we can ensure a high level of quality and service.”

During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. For more information, contact Pennsylvania American Water’s customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.

The combined cost of the latest system improvements is approximately $7 million. The project is in addition to the company’s approximately $101 million upgrade taking place at its Pittsburgh-area water treatment facilities.
