9/11 Anniversary a Solemn Occasion

Bridgeville hosted a 10th anniversary memorial service of the 9/11 event.

Local volunteer fire departments, EMS, police and military units attended the solemn ceremony in Bridgeville to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on American soil.

The uniformed Holy Child Knights of Columbus began the ceremony with a procession and held their swords up high to honor the uniformed men and women.

This is the fourth time the Knights and organized the service at the borough's fire hall. Officials from Bridgeville, Heidelberg, Scott, Collier, South Fayette and Carnegie spoke during the memorial service.
