Five events to check out in and near Chartiers Valley this weekend.

The weekend is almost here and there is a TON of stuff happening in the area. Well, Chartiers Valley Patch is coming to the rescue with our Get Out Weekend Planner!

We’ve got 5 of the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy. You won't be disappointed.

Where?/When?: , Thursday, 9 p.m.
Why Go?: The movie Duck Soup will be playing at the Settlers Cabin Park Gilbert Love Shelter at sunset.

Where?/When?: Pottery Barn at the Galleria, Saturday, 10 a.m.
Why Go?: Find out from an expert how to create a beautiful study space for your children, plus how to select the right desk and gear for every age. Kids are welcome to come and create a special craft. Call 412-344-1615 to RSVP.

Where/When: , Saturday, 10 a.m.
Why Go: Children ages 3 and older will love this kit! Bring your child in to build awesome binoculars.

Where?/When?: , Saturday, 12-2 p.m.
Why Go?: Help make Bridgeville a better place by picking up trash around town! Teams will scour the streets and separate trash and recyclables. Volunteers must be 12 or older. Pizza will be provided. Call 412-221-3737 to register and to find specific locations.

Where?/When?: , Saturday, 1:30 p.m.
Why Go?: The Rock-n-Hockey event features an ice hockey game at 1:30 p.m. where local police will play against celebrities and Pittsburgh Penguins alumni. At 4 p.m. there will be a Battle of the Bands rock concert with JINX, RPGS and 33 1/3. The event will be held at the . Proceeds will benefit two are police officers who received critical injuries in the line of duty. All proceeds from the event will benefit the families of Cranberry Police Corporal Dan Hahn, who was badly injured in pursuing a suspect on February 14, and Clairton police officer James Kuzak who received gunshot wounds on April 4 in response to a home invasion call. In addition to the entertainment, there will be prizes, food, skating, auctions and a 50/50 drawing. The public skate session will run from 4-6 p.m. and the picnic buffet will be served at at 4 p.m
