Johnstonbaugh's Ensemble Camp Concert

Johnstonbaugh’s Music Centers will be holding its second annual Ensemble Camp Concert at 7:00 PM on Saturday, July 27th, 2013 at the Bridgeville Public Library.  The concert will feature the Woodwind Chamber Ensemble under the direction of Ms. Suzanne Levinson, and the Brass Ensemble under the direction of Mr. Ryan Wolf.  More than forty elementary, middle, and high school musicians from Chartiers Valley, South Fayette, Mt. Lebanon, Canon-McMillan, Carlynton, Upper St. Clair, West Allegheny, Keystone Oaks, West Jefferson Hills, and St. Thomas More will be performing. 

The Chamber Ensemble will be performing an eclectic mix of classical and modern popular music.  Ms. Levinson has a music degree from Duquesne University and over thirty years of teaching experience.  The group is made up of two flutes and an oboe.  The Brass Ensemble will be presenting Brass Camp: Los Bronces Latinos, highlighting some of the greatest traditional and popular Latin music utilizing trumpets, trombones, French horns, flugelhorns, baritones, and tubas.  Some of the musical selections include music from The Mask of Zorro, hits by Carlos Santana, Latin selections from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story and Chick Correa’s exciting Latin jazz fusion piece, “La Fiesta.”  Mr. Wolf is a Trumpet Instructor at Johnstonbaugh’s Music Centers and High Brass Instructor at Thomas Jefferson High School.  Assistant director for the group is Mr. Brad Snyder, Music Education major at Penn State University.  The concert will feature guest soloist Mr. Todd Obidowski, Director of Bands at Carlynton Jr./Sr. High School. 

The concert is free and open to the public.
