The Baby Basics class prepares expectant parents for life with a new baby. Topics include recommended baby supplies and equipment, newborn care, normal newborn appearance, crying and sleeping – with a special emphasis on safety and wellness. Parents practice baby care skills using realistic newborn dolls. Active participation is encouraged to boost confidence while preparing for your newborn’s arrival. Grandparents are welcome to enroll in Baby Basics to update their baby care knowledge and skills. Baby Basics is recommended between 20 to 32 weeks of pregnancy. St. Clair Hospital is an independent facility with 329 beds, more than 500 physicians and about 2,000 employees. The hospital offers a litany of services with an updated emergency room, an adjoining professional office building and a renowned cancer treatment center. The hospital opened its doors in 1954 and has since been one of the largest employers in the South Hills.
