Neatly Folding Up The Bag: The End of a Project

The Pittsburgh Tote Bag Project has gone on indefinite hiatus. While we successfully collected nearly 30,000 bags in less than two years - it has been a challenge to sustain an all-volunteer project. Unfortunately, we could not keep the momentum going so we have closed our doors for now.

We want to thank The Thomas Merton Center for providing fiscal sponsorship and Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank for providing logistic support. We also owe our gratitude to the 25 businesses who stepped forward to serve as collection spots in the community as well as the hundreds of people who donated and volunteered.

The "Out of the Bag" blog post series also comes to an end. I (Sue) will be returning soon with a new series focusing on other awesome Pittsburgh topics.

Thank you for reading.
