Weekend Work on Greentree Road Canceled

PennDOT canceled the work due to expected inclement weather.

Plans for weekend construction work on Route 50 and on the Greentree Road bridge have been canceled due to the chance of inclement weather.

The workers were to be removing and replacing strip seal dams on the bridge that carries Greentree Road over Chartiers Creek in Heidelberg. Other work on Route 50 has also been canceled, PennDOT announced Friday morning.

However, crews are still expected to do pipework along Route 50 in front of Great Southern Shopping Center. There will be single-lane restrictions from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday.

Motorists should expect delays and changing traffic patterns when traveling through that area this weekend. No work will be done on Monday due to the Labor Day holiday.

The $6.8 million project will repair the road surface while upgrading traffic signals, sidewalks, bridges and guardrails along the 3.5-mile stretch of road between Bridgeville and Carnegie.
