Two Charged in Retail Theft Spree Going to Trial

Two of the three people accused of going on a retail theft shopping spree at stores in the Greentree Road Shopping Center and two other area plazas are going to trial on all charges.

Two of the three people accused of going on a retail theft shopping spree at stores in the Greentree Road Shopping Center and two other area plazas are going to trial on all charges.

Charges of receiving stolen property, retail theft conspiracy and possessing an instrument of crime against Micaela L. Carpenter, 27, of Pittsburgh were held for court during her preliminary hearing with District Judge Gary Zyra on March 7.

Meanwhile, Eric Swan, 26, of Pittsburgh, waived to court charges of retail theft, conspiracy, receiving stolen property and possessing instruments of crime during his March 7 preliminary hearing with Zyra.

The preliminary hearing for Precious Green, 18, of Wilkinsburg, was pushed back until April 4.

Scott Township police said they found more than $2,000 worth of items from stores in Scott, Robinson and North Fayette. Scott Township police arrested the trio on Feb. 28.

Charges held for court

  • Charges of harassment and terroristic threats against David Cairns, 41, of South Fayette, were held for court. Scott Township police charged Cairns on Feb. 3.
  • A charge of bad checks against Eric C. Foust of Pittsburgh was held for court. Foust was charged in Scott Township on Jan. 24.

 

Charges waived to court

  • Charges of simple assault, resisting arrest and harassment against Matthew Ciminel, 31, of Scott, were waived to court. Scott Township police charged Ciminel on Dec. 20.
  • Theft and receiving stolen property charges against Matthew Corra, 21, of Heidelberg, were waived to court. A corruption of minors charge was withdrawn. Scott Township police charged Corra on Jan. 21.
  • Drunken driving charges against Vincent Faith, 34, of Canonsburg, were waived to court. Heidelberg police arrested Faith on Jan. 1.
  • Charges of conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and false information to authorities against Brittany N. Holtz, 23, of Crafton, were waived to court. Scott Township police arrested Holtz on Feb. 28.
  • Charges of possession of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license against George Mitchell, 30, of Brighton Heights, were waived to court. Scott Township police charged Mitchell on July 16.

 

Charges withdrawn or reduced

  • Charges of possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy against Antoine Dean, 23, of Crafton, were waived to court. More serious charges of kidnapping, simple assault, reckless endangerment, theft and receiving stolen property were withdrawn. Scott Township police arrested Dean on Feb. 23.
  • Retail theft and reckless endangerment charges against Roberta L. Deary, 21, of Pittsburgh, were withdrawn while a disorderly conduct charge was reduced to a non-traffic citation. Scott Township police charged Deary on Oct. 19.
