Stolen Beer Pitcher Leads to Bigger Problems at Heidelway Bar
Heidelberg police say two men stole a beer pitcher and then ran over the bar manager with their truck when he tried to stop them.
A stolen beer pitcher led to bigger problems for a couple of bar patrons earlier this month.
Heidelberg police said Justin Wells, 23, of Pittsburgh, and Robert Ball, 23, of Scott, were at the Heidelway Bar on Jan. 10 when they allegedly tried to leave with the beer pitcher.
The two men left in their pick-up truck when they apparently stopped in front of the Heidelberg police garage near the bar. The bar’s manager confronted them, police said, but the driver pulled away and knocked him to the ground, causing him to cut his hand in the fall.
Heidelberg police reviewed surveillance video from outside their garage and the bar owner was able to identify them. Investigators filed charges on Jan. 22.
Wells faces charges of theft, reckless endangerment and reckless driving. Ball was charged with theft.
