Runaway Cat Found Wandering in Scott

Do you know who owns this gray cat found wandering on Greentree Road in Scott?

Animal Control is looking for the owner of a cat found wandering on Greentree Road near McMonagle Avenue.

The adult cat, which is gray with markings on his chin and feet, was recovered this week after a Scott Township resident said it was “hanging around” the home for a few days.

The cat finally found its way into the person’s Greentree Road home and was taken to Animal Control.

Animal Control workers are not sure if the cat is a female or neutered male. The cat did not have a collar, identification or an ID chip.

Anyone who might have information on the cat is asked to call Animal Control through Allegheny County dispatch's non-emergency number at 412-279-6911.

What will happen to this cat if an owner is not found? What is the period of time we have to find an owner? Unfortunately, in many cases owners who can no longer care for an animal find that it is an option to let the animal run free in the wild. You wouldn't do this to your child (I hope!) so don't do it to your dependent pet. They're not equipped to be wild animals and they are more prone to become sick or hurt. That's no way to treat your pet--take it to a shelter where someone else can love him/her.

@ella... I would contact the that non-emergency dispatch number and inquire about the cat, or ask them if it will eventually be put up for adoptions. This little guy was adopted a few days after Animal Control picked him up... http://chartiersvalley.patch.com/articles/lost-dog-finds-his-new-home
