Washington Avenue in Bridgeville will close for several hours Thursday night as crews finish up the streetscape project and repaint the roadway lines.

The road, which is also known as Route 50, will be closed between Bower Hill Road and Hickman Street from 9 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday.

Bridgeville police will be working to detour traffic around the area and signs will be posted urging motorists to bypass the area. The main detours will take motorists onto Murray Avenue or Chess Street to get around the overnight construction.

PennDOT crews will be removing temporary paint lines and installing permanent markings as part of Bridgeville’s streetscape revitalization project.

The $300,000 project replaced sidewalks, removed street trees, upgraded electrical outlets and added flowers and plants to Bridgeville’s main business district.
