Presto-Sygan Road Closed

Crews are relocating a waterline in an area of the hillside that collapsed months ago.

A major road connecting Collier Township to South Fayette closed Monday morning and will not reopen for months.

Presto-Sygan Road will be closed while crews from Pennsylvania American Water relocate a waterline in an area of the hillside that collapsed months ago. The roadway will be shut down between Millers Run and Oakridge roads.

There were single-lane restrictions in that area because a large chunk of the northbound lane had collapsed and fallen down the hillside. PennDOT had stationed stop signs in the area to allow traffic to pass the one-lane road.

To get around the road closure, PennDOT is suggesting that motorists continue on Millers Run Road before turning right onto Battle Ridge Road. Drivers can then follow that to Oakridge Road where it will eventually lead back to Presto-Sygan.

Motorists should use caution, allow extra time and be aware of changing traffic patterns when driving through the area.Β
