Patch Goes to Career Day at Holy Child School!
I was invited as a guest speaker for Holy Child Catholic School’s Career Day on Friday morning. It was a lot of fun telling students about Chartiers Valley Patch and my job as a mobile journalist.
I was invited as a guest speaker for Holy Child Catholic School’s Career Day on Friday morning and had a lot of fun telling students about Chartiers Valley Patch and my job as a mobile journalist.
The students in Mrs. Rose’s fifth grade class had great questions that ranged from my craziest story I’ve covered to why I carry my computer and camera around in a backpack instead of a bag. I let each of them hold it and they found out how heavy it is fully loaded with all my supplies.
I also had a chance to speak to Mrs. Cole’s eighth grade science class. We discussed how new social media outlets, such as Twitter and Facebook, are changing the gathering and receiving of news.
A state police trooper, the owners of a new bakery in Bridgeville, state politicians, EMTs and bankers were some of the many workers who appeared during the day to talk about their jobs.
Thanks for the invitation to speak, and good luck to all of the students when they finally decide their career path!
