New Restaurants Coming to Great Southern
A place called Rumfish and a small lunch shop called Mike and Tony's Gyros are opening soon.
Two new restaurants will be opening up this year in the Great Southern Shopping Center.
Construction is moving forward on Rumfish, a restaurant that apparently will be owned by the same people who operate Coconuts in the Pittsburgh area, in the corner of the shopping center next to Tuesday Mornings.
The other restaurant, Mike and Tony’s Gyros, which already has an eatery located in the South Side, will be on the other side of the shopping center closer to Texas Roadhouse. Tom Plietz, who is Collier Township’s code enforcement officer, said the restaurant has been on Carson Street for “many years” and the owners are trying to expand their business.
“That have pretty good gyros, actually,” Plietz said.
Construction on Mike and Tony’s hasn’t really started yet.
However, Rumfish is moving along and Plietz planned to make a construction inspection this week.
“That’s supposed to be a nice restaurant,” Plietz said. “They’re building out (on the space) they have, and phase two will have an outside area.”
Meanwhile, a tenant finally has been found for the large retail building behind Giant Eagle and across the parking lot from Destinta Theatres. Plietz said Golden Living’s disbursement warehouse will be located in part of the building and eventually could take up the whole building.
“They’re taking half of that and possibly taking it all eventually,” Plietz said.
“They’re moving along pretty good (with construction).”
