HAVE YOU SEEN THIS DOG?

Owner needs help finding cocker spaniel named Freckles

Bridgeville police are asking for the public's help in locating a lost dog.

The tan and white cocker spaniel named Freckles escaped from Paws-N-Claws Dog Grooming salon Wednesday and was last seen running down Hickman Street. The dog is not wearing any tags and does not have a microchip.

“She’s very distraught over this,” Bridgeville police Chief Chad King said of the owner.

King said the animal apparently got loose by going through two open doors in Paws-N-Claws.

The owner, Pat Henger, who lives in Cecil, said Freckles is used to a rural setting and would not be accustomed to heavy traffic or cars. She said the family has been searching at all hours, and appreciated the help from the Bridgeville community.

“Everybody has been so nice,” Henger said. “We were out at midnight (Thursday) and the woman in the car in front of us was hollering his name. We’ve had so many kind people looking for him.”

Anyone who may have seen this dog is asked to call Bridgeville police at 412-221-6052. They can also call Henger at 412-886-7941.

Spoke with owners, Freckles is still missing & they are beyond devastated. They live in a rural area & their eight year old cocker spaniel is not accustomed to cars, traffic, etc. Please continue to help.

Pat: So sorry to hear that Freckles escaped from Paws & Claws. I live in Scott Township but do business in Bridgeville quite often. I am keeping my eyes open for your precious pet. On a personal note, I used to take my dog there, had a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE with the owner of the salon and never returned. I tell people all the time, don't take your pet there because of her lack of care! When you get Freckles back, find yourself a new groomer. I know take my precious dog to PRECIOUS PAWS, located right behind the Bridgeville Police Station. They are WONDERFUL, NEVER HAD ONE PROBLEM WITH THEIR CARE OR SERVICE.

I just spoke to the dog's owner and she really appreciates everyone who is helping to find Freckles. I've updated the story with her interview.

Apparently we need a South Fayette Patch because Pat said she heard Freckles was seen Thursday night on Millers Run Road. He may be heading back to Cecil.

This was last night, so he's obviously on the move and not in Bridgeville anymore. Pat sounded hopeful that this news means he is still in good health and can be found.
