Another Weekend, Another I-79 Lane Closure
Crews will close one lane in each direction near the Bridgeville exit.
Traffic problems on Interstate 79 are expected to continue this weekend as crews move forward with construction near the Bridgeville exit.
Crews will be working around the clock fixing seal joints and upgrading bridge decks from 7 p.m. Friday until 11 a.m. Sunday. Work will continue next week each night from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.
The lane closures have caused traffic backups and forced many people off the interstate in search of alternate routes. Meanwhile, the northbound onramp at Bridgeville from Millers Run Road will be closed until mid-November.
One of those alternate roads, Route 50, will also be under construction with single-lane restrictions from Bridgeville to Carnegie. Crews will be doing concrete patching, rebuilding intersection inlets and replacing curbs.
PennDOT said motorists should expect significant delays in that area.
