Here's a picture of my mom, grandmas and me at my family baby shower in March. Hopefully what they have taught me over my lifetime will help me be as wonderful of a mother as they are!
My mom, Betty Dudiak, died on May 18, 1999. Though she's gone, she is always with me in so many things I do, from cooking some of the favorite family recipes to hearing her grammar voice in my head when I write. (She used to make me diagram sentences—she taught English for a few years at Clairton High School.) For me, the biggest kick I get is seeing her lasting influence on my children. My daughter, a historic preservationist, "inherited" my mom's affinity for shopping and choosing "nicer" things—and her understanding of the importance of preserving family history. My son, a filmmaker, learned the art of storytelling and imagination from her as the two of them created an active fantasy world using the variety of Playmobil figures she bought for him. Though I miss her, I take comfort that my son's and daughter's greatest talents are rooted in my mom's love for them.
Here I am with my mother, Lisa, and my wife, Nicole, on Thanksgiving Day 2009. I am lucky to be loved by two of the most beautiful women in the world—inside and out.
Cranberry Editor Jessica Sinichak with her sister, Lindsay, and her mom, Barbara, share a special moment at her wedding rehearsal dinner. Although she can drive us nuts, our mom is funny, caring and one-of-a-kind—we love her for it. Happy Mother's Day, Mom!
My mom made plenty of sacrifices through the years to make sure I received a college education without the student loans. I wouldn't be the person I am today without her guidance and love. She's very special to me.

Today, we celebrate our mothers! Your mom deserves a little public display of affection, so we at Patch are asking you to add photos of you and your mom. Tell the whole world why you love her and what makes her so special!

I am reposting this article inpired by my mom that I wrote last year and would like to add that "all of the little things" that may go unnoticed, really add up to the big thing—the everlasting love between mother and child, that lasts a lifetime.
