Glendale Bridge Will Be Closed This Weekend
Traffic that normally uses Carothers Avenue in Scott Township will be detoured through Carnegie.
The Glendale Bridge that carries traffic from Carothers Avenue in Scott Township over to Carnegie will be closed this weekend for repairs.
The closure will begin at 6 a.m. Saturday and run through 6 a.m. Monday. Traffic from Route 50 will be re-routed through Carnegie.
People who normally use the bridge in Glendale instead should take Route 50 through Carnegie, turn left onto Main Street before taking Third Street. Local traffic, however, will be allowed to access the roads leading up to the bridge.
Allegheny County’s public works department is conducting the work on the aging bridge.
Meanwhile, PennDOT said construction crews will close one lane on Interstate 79 in both directions near the Bridgeville exit next Monday and Tuesday. The crews will be working on the highway from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.
Crews will be out again in the same area next Wednesday and Thursday working on the southbound lanes of the highway.
The work in that area is expected to end later this summer.
