Giant Eagle Recalls Lettuce Due to Listeria Outbreak

Lettuce and sandwich rings could be contaminated with listeria, which can cause food poisoning.

Giant Eagle, which has grocery stores in Chartiers Valley Shopping Center and Virginia Manor, has issued a recall of bags of shredded iceberg lettuce, as well as certain sandwich rings, because they may have been contaminated by listeria, which causes food poisoning.

Any customers with bags of "F.M. shredded lettuce" with the UPC code "3003430195" should return those bags to Giant Eagle for a full refund.

Because contaminated lettuce may have been used in Giant Eagle's Italian, New York and All-American sandwich rings, customers should return those sandwich rings, as well, for a full refund.

The UPC codes of the sandwich rings are "23755100000," "24755500000," "22755100000," "25755500000," "21755100000" and "26755500000."

Giant Eagle's customer service number is 800–553–2324.
