Mike Colbert, a star basketball player who graduated from Chartiers Valley in 1998, was arrested Wednesday in a multi-state illegal gambling ring, multiple news agencies are reporting.
Colbert, who is a prominent bookie in Las Vegas, was charged with eight counts of conspiracy, money laundering and enterprise corruption, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Wednesday.
The charges apparently center around PinnacleSports.com, which the Review-Journal reports is one of the largest offshore sports wagering websites. The case also apparently led to the arrest of 25 people in New York, ESPN.com reported.
Colbert scored more than 2,000 points in his career, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
