Flurries Expected to Turn Into Moderate Snowfall
Light flurries Friday morning will turn into heavier snowfall with 2-to-4 inches expected by Saturday afternoon. Also watch out for slick spots during the Friday morning commute
Light flurries around dawn Friday are expected to turn into heavier snow later in the afternoon and evening.
Dennis Sims, a meteorologist at Air Science Consultants in Bridgeville, expects there to be “off-and-on light snow” during the morning in the South Hills of Pittsburgh before it gets heavier later in the day.
That could bring 2-to-4 inches of snowfall in the area by Saturday afternoon. Some other forecasters are predicting 3-to-5 inches in the Pittsburgh area.
“It’s just a matter of trying to time this thing and how it’s going to develop,” Sims said.
Sims doesn’t expect more snowfall after that, but whatever is on the ground could remain until Christmas Day. That has Sims dubbing it a “Grey Christmas” this year.
“It’s going to be a grey Christmas rather than a white Christmas with all that dirty snow,” he said.
