“A lot of the money goes to the children’s programs that the library sponsors,” Friends President Pauline Bongartz said.

She said even though the group provides a small check to the library each month worth anywhere from $50 to a couple hundred dollars, the fashion show and the yearly Festival of Trees is what enables them to donate larger amounts of money. Additionally, Bongartz said the non-profit organization gave the library their first donation of $10,000 a few years back in an effort , which opened this past January.

“We are very happy with the new library and it is such an achievement,” she said.

Meanwhile, the fashion show featured 27 different outfits on local models of all ages that frequent Sweet Zoo. Pale colors, lace, coral, orange, hats and nautical themes appear to be the fashionable trends this spring.

Alana Gibbs, owner of Hair 2 Sole on Hickman Street, provided hair and makeup to the models. Gibbs, who has lived her entire life in Bridgeville, said it was an easy decision to get involved with the well-known event as she wants to help the community she lives and works in.

“What are more fashionable than hair and makeup?” Gibbs said. “They are the perfect accessories.”

In addition to the opportunity to purchase some of the latest trends from Sweet Zoo, with partial proceeds going to the Friends of the Library, guests were able to donate via the silent auction, which had items donated by several local businesses.
