A driver and his two dogs somehow escaped injury after their sport-utility vehicle rolled over into Thoms Run stream near Presto.

Emergency responders were called to the crash just off Thoms Run Road near the township line between Collier and South Fayette townships around 7 p.m. Monday, Presto fire Asst. Chief Glen Eger said.

The driver apparently lost control during the heavy snowfall and the SUV slide off the bridge and into the stream. The vehicle was on its side in Thoms Run, so Eger said the firefighters had to do “a little bit of work get him out of there.”

Eger found one dog sitting in the SUV and other dog under a seat. They were both uninjured, but rattled from the crash, Eger said.

Thoms Run Road near the intersection with K B Hollow Road was closed while firefighters removed the SUV from the stream. Eger said they had “quite a few issues” trying to pull it out of the water and up the embankment.

I HOPE THE DRIVER DIDNT LET THE DOGS RUN LOOSE IN THE CAR. EVERY DAY I SEE SOME ONE DRIVING WITH A DOG ON THEIR LAP, OR THE DOG HAS HIS HEAD OUT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW.
