Cupcakes N'At in Bridgeville Closes
The popular gourmet cupcake shop in Bridgeville closed just four months after opening on Station Street.
A sign hanging from a window at Cupcakes N’at in Bridgeville tells an ironic tale: “Life is short… Eat more cupcakes.”
Unfortunately, life was also short for the gourmet cupcake shop.
The popular shop closed earlier this month, leaving regular patrons to wonder what happened.
The shop opened in early March and sisters Tamie Godfrey of Scott Township and Billie Jo Giehll of Heidelberg whipped of tasty treats for their customers. The former owners could not be reached for comment on why the shop closed just four months after opening.
The store quickly gained quite a following and enticed people with the sweet aromas coming from the shop on Station Street next to Sauce. Each of the cupcakes were named after popular Pittsburguese slogans, such as the “Redd Up” and “Yinzer.”
The sisters were shocked by the initial response to their shop when they sold out 720 cupcakes on their first day.
But that also led to times when they had to close early for the day because they had run out of ingredients, leaving some customers to look elsewhere for gourmet cupcakes.
Now the lights are off and a CLOSED sign hangs in the door. It’s not known what tenant might go into the location.

Start-up small businesses are risky ventures. Sounds like their business plan didn't include the unanticipated demand.
Maybe a similar baking business could survive.
But don't expect Pierogi's Plus to branch out. They have a great location in McKees Rocks.

wow, shocker! I thought they were doing so well, but in this economy, most people cant afford 10.00 a half dozen for cupcakes! They were heavanly and will be missed for sure, we always bought for family gatherings and parties!

My husband and I have owned our automotive repair business for 20 years now....Very tough...Such a shame. The treats were delicious and they were great people. I wish them well !!

This is a good story to remember for those who want to tax small business owners even more. After all, "they can afford it."
I think the current statistic is that 8 of 10 new businesses fail within five years of startup. In some sectors, the failure rate is even higher. Being a small business owner isn't quite all the glamor that some circles wish to paint. "Being your own boss," is great, but the provision comes with great risk.

Heartbroken!!! These women were just lovely, and the cupcakes divine. I especially liked the white cake with white icing — heavenly. We will miss them, and I secretly hope they'll reconsider or come back with a new plan -- a visit there was a treat coming or going from "Sauce" next door.

I also would like to know why they closed? Was it because of no advertising? They were back there and you could not see them from the main road. Their cupcakes were awesome and I cannot believe they gave up after such a such period there. I hope someone can get to the bottom of why they closed. It was the nearest bakery for ome!
