Collier's Little League Baseball Team Loses in Semifinals to World Series
Collier lost 9-4 to New Jersey in the Little League World Series regional semifinals.
Collier Township’s magical ride to the Little League World Series ended abruptly Friday with a loss in the regional semifinals.
Collier lost 9-4 to New Jersey after winning the Pennsylvania championship in early August.
The 6-inning semi-final playoff game in Bristol, CT, was televised on ESPN at 11 a.m. Friday. New Jersey now will play Delaware at 5 p.m. Sunday to decide who represents the Mid-Atlantic Region at the Little League World Series in Williamsport.
The kids from Collier fell behind early. But they scored three runs in the 3rd inning to tie the score at 4. But a flurry of homeruns by New Jersey in the 5th and 6th innings put the game out of reach.
Collier won the district, section and state championships before heading to the regional finals.
