Mike Colbert, a star basketball player who graduated from Chartiers Valley in 1998, was arrested Wednesday in a multi-state illegal gambling ring, multiple news agencies are reporting. Colbert, who is a prominent bookie in Las Vegas, was charged with eight counts of conspiracy, money laundering and enterprise corruption.
A Bethel Park woman suffered a severe head injury Thursday morning when she was run over by a truck in the Rite Aid parking lot in Bridgeville. Bridgeville police Chief Chad King said the woman, who is in her 40s, was walking from her car to the store around 10 a.m. when she apparently was feeling ill and inexplicably laid down in the parking lot. A man driving a large pickup truck didn’t see the woman and hit her.
The Chartiers Valley Colts lost to West Allegheny 48-0 on Friday night in what was Chris Saluga's final game as head coach. Saluga announced he was resigning as Chartiers Valley’s football coach, but he still was on the sidelines for the final game of the season. Saluga, who has coached the Colts for the past 12 years and has the most wins in school history, told the team after practice Thursday.
A man apparently “angry about something” fired a rifle shot from the porch of his Union Street home earlier this month, Bridgeville police said. Police said they were called to the home shortly before 8 p.m. on Oct. 5 for a report of shots fired and found 54-year-old Ronald Oehm.
A Collier Township man suffered moderate injuries when the car he was driving rolled over on Prestley Road near Bridgeville earlier this month. Collier police said Andrew Nemec, 21, had to be taken to an area hospital with cuts to his face when his vehicle rolled over shortly after 2 a.m. on Oct. 11.
