Bridgeville Library Welcomes New Board Members
Four new board members are looking to help the Bridgeville Public Library after a tumultuous year.
The Bridgeville Public Library and its reshuffled Board of Directors are looking forward to a new year after a tumultuous 2012.
The library board is welcoming four new members and will meet for the first time this year on Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. inside the library’s community room.
The board welcomes new additions John Oyler, Patte Kelly and Michael Aquilina, who will serve as secretary.
Rebecca Wisbon, who came onto the board last summer, is the new president, while William O’Connor, who previously served on the library’s advisory panel, will be the new vice president. Cindy Ghelarducci will remain as the board treasurer in 2013.
“It’s a new Board and a new direction for the BPL,” Wisbon said. “For the first time, the board will include members from neighboring communities which is true representation of our library's patronage".
Nino Petrocelli Sr., Mary Weise and Elaine Salizonni left their positions on the board after their terms expired last year.
“These individuals all played important roles in the building of the new library facility on McMillen Street,” the library said in a press release.
The library has run into some financial problems after opening at the new facility, and the board is tasked with keeping the building running while bringing in more revenue. There have been some initial dialogue with South Fayette Township Library officials about sharing services or programs.
The cooperation between the communities is evident by two South Fayette residents, Pete Hewlett and JuliAnne Wright, who joined the library’s advisory panel to offer their insight and knowledge.
“It’s a very diverse, educated and energetic group who are willing to work and support the BOD in change,” Wisbon said. “It’s an exciting time for the BPL and for the community.”
