Bottom Dollar Opening New Grocery Stores Soon

The discount grocery store chain will open locations along Route 50 in Collier and Scott later this month.

The new Bottom Dollar Food discount grocery stores in the Pittsburgh area are expected to open later this month.

Scott Township officials said the new grocery store located on Washington Avenue in the shopping center that currently houses Family Video will open Jan. 26. Meanwhile, Collier Township officials said the supermarket built in Great Southern Shopping Center was inspected Friday and should open by the end of January.

Other locations for the stores in the Pittsburgh area include Castle Shannon, Baldwin, Penn Hills, McKeesport, Butler, Ambridge and Aliquippa.

The North Carolina-based grocery store chain has already filled some positions, but is still looking to hire workers.

“We're always looking for talented people who are fun, energetic and have a passion for helping customers as well as fellow associates,” company spokeswoman Tenisha Waldo told Chartiers Valley Patch. “Anyone interested in applying for employment opportunities at Bottom Dollar Food may visit (the company’s website).”

Bottom Dollar opened its first store in High Point, N.C. in 2005 and has quickly expanded to 47 locations. Company officials said they see this as a good opportunity to introduce its brand into the Pittsburgh market. The new stores–along with three more in Youngstown, Ohio–are expected to bring 600 jobs to the region.

“We're always looking for talented people who are fun, energetic and have a passion for helping customers as well as fellow associates"...They don't want much for 9 or 10 bucks an hour do they?

Bottom Dollar Food are great places to shop. I can't wait to take my elderly Mom to the Great Southern Location.
Later openings will include locations in McKees Rocks and McCandlesss.

Bottom Dollar offers great savings and both national brands and private labels.
