Afternoon Crash Leads to DUI Arrest
Police charged a Washington County man with DUI following a crash in Bridgeville. Police also released info from a DUI checkpoint earlier this month. Read police news from Bridgeville and Heidelberg in this week’s police blotter.
A Washington County man faces DUI charges after Bridgeville police said he crashed into another car on Washington Avenue in the middle of the afternoon.
Police said they were called to a crash shortly before 1 p.m. on Aug. 18 in the 400 block of Washington Avenue and noticed one of the drivers might be impaired.
John Flatz, 56, of South Strabane, failed a field sobriety test, police said, and was charged with DUI, prohibited acts and reckless driving.
Police said no one was seriously injured in the crash.
DUI checkpoint arrests: Two people were arrested during the large DUI checkpoint in Bridgeville earlier this month. Bridgeville police said Robert Robison, 60, of Upper St. Clair, was charged with driving under the influence and prohibited acts when officers stopped his car at the Route 50 checkpoint on Aug. 8. Brandon Walls, 21, of Washington, PA, was also arrested during the checkpoint because police said he had altered his state inspection stickers. Police charged Walls with prohibited acts, altered documents, driving without insurance and other vehicle citations.
Traffic stop leads to charges: Heidelberg police said they charged Ronald Johnson, 28, of Avella, with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license during a traffic stop along East Railroad Street on Aug. 23. Police said they also charged a passenger in the vehicle, Kayla McConnell, 22, of McDonald, with possession of drug paraphernalia.
